Train up a Child…

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Comment

We are responsible!  Just bringing kids to church is NOT enough!  Look at the disturbing social trends in children's lives today.  Stubbornness and rebellion is rapid.

1 Samuel 15:23

For rebellion [is as] the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness [is as] iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from [being] king.

Comment

What is coming out of the mouths of babes.  What types of action are they learning at home?  What types of games or movies are the kids allowed to play or watch?

Luke 6:45

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh

Comment

Garbage in, Garbage out

Proverbs 22:15

Foolishness [is] bound in the heart of a child; [but] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Comment

We can define "rod of Correction" in any way we want.

1) rod, staff, branch, offshoot, club, scepter, tribe

     a) rod, staff

     b) shaft (of spear, dart)

     c) club (of shepherd's implement)

     d) truncheon, scepter (mark of authority)

     e) clan, tribe

1) discipline, chastening, correction

    a) discipline, correction

    b) chastening

Phil 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of
good report
; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Luke 6:45

... for of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks

Nice long bike ride.

Okay, as indicated in the "Details" of my ride, I went a lot longer than recorded.  Why the discrepancy?  Well, apparently as I was turning to head west on Broad Street, (see map) I seemed to have hit the "Stop recording" button and did not notice until I got about four miles from my destination.  So, I missed those extra miles as well as the few miles running around Franklin Park Conservatory.
Now, I have done this before on my other bike.  On that bike the GPS was mounted right in front of the seat and my knee had the ability to hit it.  However, this unit is mounted on the handle bars.  MAN! I am good!  How my knee got up there is a mystery to me.  Actually, I suspect my hand somehow hit the button???
So, estimated miles was approximatively:  24.9 miles (Calculated in Google Earth)
Duration of ride was 2 hours 55 minutes.

Balloons 'n Tunes

These are just a few shots I got tonight at the Grove City Balloons 'n Tunes event at Beulah Park. The weather couldn't be any more perfect. My only complant was the hour and a half wait to get to take a balloon ride just to find out before getting on board that the sun has set and no more rides. I believe everything happens for a reason and I was fine with the turn of events.

Peggy took several excellent photos with her new FujiFilm finepix S2550HD. She took some HD video and a lot of still shots. you can see her shots on Facebook from this link.

You can see more shot from my picasa web

Nice cool bike ride

This picture was taken with Peggy's new FujiFilm FinePix S2550HD point-n-shoot.  It was a cool and cloudy morning when this was taken but thought it did an excellent job.

2010 Balloon Glow

Demonstration of a burn without the balloon
This is about as exciting as it got.
I think I was supprised that altemeters, balloon temperature and vertical speed indicators were on board.
Aerostar Aurora 54k was the maker of this ride. The 54k indicates that the balloon can hold 54,000 basketballs. This was a single person balloon. The owner of this balloon gave a impromtu presentation about the mechanics of the sport.

Bottom line... We got rained out.  We actually had two opportunities to see balloons and the first time was cancelled due to high winds.  The second time was suppose to be the actually "Glow" at 8:30pm and it was raining.  Oh well.  Maybe next year.

This is what we wanted to see but did not!  This is a balloon glow.

Fishing at Hargus

Chris and I left to go fishing this morning and it turned out to be an excellent start.  When I say "Excellent start" what I mean is that the temperature was very nice and a slight breeze.  This didn't last long and by 8:30, we were looking for shade.  Eventually, we got to the point that the sun was straight overhead and no shade was to found.  At this point the temperature was a bit excessive and the humidity was high.

Ultimately, Chris won the most fish and the largest fish.  I can say that I was not skunked. If I had another few hundred hours with Chris not fishing, I could have been convinced I could beat him.

Doran's Farm Market

Peggy and I chose to go to another Photo Walk in New Albany this morning at 7:00am. It turned out to be an excellent morning. I might even say a bit cool at first but got hotter around 8:00am. I've uploaded several more photos at my Picasa Album.
