Anticipate or Participate

Remember when we were kids and a field trip was about to take place.  We would be so excited in the anticipation of the events to come.  The night before, we could barely sleep, we were queasy in the thoughts of what we were going to be doing the next day while our eyes refused to close.  I remember thinking, "The sooner I go to sleep, the quicker I will be heading for the field trip".  We would eventually doze off and the next morning the excitement begins again.  We don't feel like eating and all we want to do is take the brown paper bag with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a cookie of some type and perhaps mom would add a little something extra and head out the door.

Well, that was when I was a kid.  Today's reality is that I slept rather good last night.  I no longer anticipate, I participate.  This is the way I live my life at this point because, I am a firm believer that anticipation causes the queasy feeling and lack of sleep.  Basically, anticipation is a drain on your body.  You might think, "But you have to anticipate things in order to plan."  There is a distinct difference between anticipation and planning.  Anticipation highlights the insecurities of an event while planning provides a sense of security.

Well, today and the rest of the weekend will be a big day for the kids at the Parsons Avenue Church of God.  I remember the day when a field trip was coming up and the excitement kept me from sleeping the night before.  The queasy stomach, the eyes that just would not close as you anticipate the events to take place.  The next morning, your mind is running on overdrive thinking about the cool stuff that is about to take place.  You nervously get your stuff packed and it is finally time to leave.

I hope you can see the distinction between anticipation and participation.  Anticipation will prevent you from getting on the Roller Coaster.  Participation will result in a fuller and richer life.  While standing in line of the Beast, you can plan on, "Do I sit in the very first car, perhaps the second seat back in the first car, or should I sit in the very last seat?"  Planning is good because you will experience different events in new ways.

I said all of that to say we are indeed leaving for the weekend with 40 people.  The event is called Kidfest 2010 and is going to be located at Kings Island.  We are going to have an excellent time getting in touch with God and allowing the kids to truly understand the power of God in their lives.  We will be having a type of revival for the kids on Friday night, Saturday morning, and Sunday morning.  In between, we will be taking Saturday evening to visit Kings Island.

Final point in closing:

Happiness keeps you sweet, trials keep you strong, sorrow keeps you human, failure keeps you humble and success keeps you glowing, but only faith and attitude keeps you going....

This link above will show all details of my first real trip out for some nature photography. I met another nature photographer on my path and you can check out some of his excellent shots at http://www.fasttimesphotos.com. He is the official photographer of mid-ohio racing. However, check out his nature shots also.

The Weather is Improving

A fishing icon.As much as I enjoy the winter weather, there becomes a time when we need to think of things like... fishing.  This requires warmer weather and it seems like things are actually heading in that direction.  I said that to say, temperatures are going to drop below freezing and a chance of lake effect snow tonight.  It has been in the "summer" temperatures for so some time now and this is happening tonight.  After this cold front goes through, we will be heading back to the summer temperatures again.  I believe this one cold snap will not effect the water temperatures much. Once the water temperatures get above 65F, spawning will begin!!!!!!  I suspect within the next couple weeks, we will begin to get into some excellent fishing.  It will be at that time I will kick-off our first annual Bass Fishing Tournament.  (Proceeds will be going towards the Children's Ministries at the Parsons Avenue Church of God).

I am still looking into the rules and regulations for this competition but intend to have the organization completed within the week.  I started the regulations by modeling after the Bass Master Classic regulations and adapted to, let's just say, less professional anglers.
